On Saturday, April 23, 2016, Caddo Mills High School students attended the 3A UIL Region 2 Academic Tournament on the Tyler Junior College campus in Tyler, TX. The Accounting Team took the Regional Championship (5th Straight year) and the Speech/Debate team took 2nd place Region Speech team (highest region ranking since 2012). Overall, the UIL Academic Team finished in 5th place out of 37 placing schools at Region. 
Students placing individually at the tournament included Bentley Payne (1st in Prose), Lauren Hopkins (2nd in Accounting and 5th in Editorial Writing), Manuel Dominguez (3rd in Accounting), Alex Dickson (3rd in Persuasive), Emily McMahan (4th in Prose), Deja Rollins (4th in Poetry), Joseph Cox (5th in Accounting), Matthew Coker (6th in Accounting) and Ryan Craig (6th in Persuasive). As a result of their finish, Payne, Hopkins, Dominguez, Dickson, Cox and Coker will advance to UIL State competition May 23-25 on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. McMahan and Rollins will travel with the team and serve as State Alternates.
Other students attending the Region tournament included Rachel Hopkins, Debbie Williams, Maggie Foster, Lily Copin, Destiny Eaton, Antonio Sanchez, Destiny White, Hunter Tippets, Matthew Marlborough, Sreynin Ou, Sarah Reagan, Mason Mock, John Isham, Hannah Harrington, Shelby Short, Rhett Randolph, Adam Davis, Jake Woodruff and Hailey Roberts.
